Guided Fraser River Fishing Adventures

Sturgeon Fishing

Catch and release prehistoric Fraser River white sturgeon that can exceed 13 feet and 1,200 pounds.

The Fraser River is home to one of the world’s largest white sturgeon populations. A battle with one measures in hours, not minutes. These ancient fish have immense power and speed. They can peel 200 yards of line off the spool in seconds. Landing a fish bigger and stronger than you is what sturgeon fishing is all about. It is a fishery every angler should experience at least once.

Sturgeon fishing is available year-round. The main season runs April through November, when the fish gorge on the river’s abundant food. The Fraser Canyon, 45 minutes east of Chilliwack, holds the true giants. Here the river narrows, deepens and quickens, and epic battles have lasted more than three hours. This stretch was featured on National Geographic’s “Fish Warrior.” It is fishable June through August and is our most incredible adventure.

Conservation is central to everything we do. Working with the Fraser River Sturgeon Conservation Society, we tag and record data on every sturgeon that boards our boats. Our guests can take part in the tagging process first-hand. Collectively, anglers on the river have tagged more than 47,000 white sturgeon since 1995. This catch-and-release program has kept the fishery open, flourishing and world-renowned.
